Sao Martinho do Porto is one of the most famous coastal villages in Portugal, known for its shell-shaped bay and family atmosphere. In the centre of the village you will find several restaurants and the local Farmers Market that give you daily freshness and the delicious flavours of "the real Portugal".While the year-round population is less than 5,000 inhabitants, the population more than doubles in July and August. Like its nearby neighbour, Nazaré, Sao Martinho do Porto was originally a fishing village.
The calm waters of the Atlantic make this beach a favourite place for families and water sports enthusiasts. On the south side of the bay is Salir do Porto with the largest sand dunes in Portugal.
